About:
Laneo is an international philanthropic organization working to restore and protect the trails, rivers, lakes and beaches utilized by outdoor sport enthusiasts.


Goal:
The goal of this project was to develop a name and a logo that reflected the goals and values of this organization and its members.

Because this is an international organization, the client needed a name that was easily spelled and pronounced no matter the speaker's native language. Door 12 Creative researched over 3,500 potential words in 12 languages from which 17 names were presented to the client. The final name the client chose is rooted in the Hawaiian word "alaneo" meaning "serene," which the client felt was very appropriate due to the stillness and peace that the outdoors bring to those who appreciate the living planet.

The final logo the client selected captures the adventurous spirit of the sport enthusiasts who enjoy playing outside—but without pin-pointing out a single sport, because the organization represents all outdoor sports. The logo reflects the attitude of people who like to have fun and yet do something good while they are at it, and the green colors and leaf imagery help root the environmental aspect of the cause.
